Kerno Invites Small-Batch Makers to Help Shape Its Free Beta

Free Beta access gives product-based businesses an opportunity to use Kerno in real workflows and influence what the team builds next.

WINCHESTER, VA, UNITED STATES, August 25, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Kerno, Inc. today invited small-batch makers and growing product-based businesses to join the Kerno Beta, use the platform in real operational workflows, and help shape how the software develops. Kerno Beta access is available free of charge to Beta users for as long as the system remains in Beta.

Kerno is built for businesses that make physical products and need better control over materials, formulas, packaging, inventory, batch production, quality requirements, and product costs. The platform brings those operational records together so makers can spend less time reconstructing what happened across spreadsheets, notebooks, disconnected applications, and memory.

Purchase details may live in email, while packaging counts, quality checks, and changing product costs are recorded somewhere else. As the business adds products, orders, suppliers, or team members, those separate records become harder to keep aligned.
That fragmentation creates practical questions: What can be produced with the materials currently available? Which lots went into a batch? Were the required quality checks completed? What did the product cost to make after material prices changed? How many finished goods are actually ready to sell? When the answers depend on one person finding and reconciling several records, the operation becomes fragile.

Kerno is designed to give makers a clearer operational foundation. Beta users can explore workflows related to product formulas, material and packaging inventory, production batches, quality control, finished goods, and cost visibility. Kerno does not replace the maker’s knowledge or judgment. It helps document and connect that knowledge so the business can operate with greater confidence as more people become involved.
The Kerno Beta is intended for founders and teams producing items such as candles, soap, skincare, cosmetics, food and beverages, wellness products, apparel, specialty goods, and other physical products made in repeatable runs. Kerno is especially relevant to businesses that have outgrown fragile spreadsheets but are not well served by oversized enterprise manufacturing systems.

Beta participants are being asked to evaluate Kerno against the realities of their own work. Useful feedback may include where setup is unclear, which production details are difficult to record, what information teams need before starting a batch, how quality requirements should appear, and where better visibility would help an owner make a decision. Feedback will inform product refinement, but participation does not guarantee that a requested feature will be added or placed on a specific timeline.

Kerno grew from a firsthand maker problem. Allison Savino was running Plumera Essentials, a candle and personal-care business, while relying on a spreadsheet to manage increasingly complex operations. When that spreadsheet became difficult to trust, Michael saw that the issue was larger than a corrupted file. Makers were running serious production businesses with tools that did not reflect the way they actually worked.
Kerno began as an answer to that gap. The international founding team includes Michael D. Savino, Ina Alvarez, Emilio Sosa, and Sam Umaretiya. Together, the team is developing Kerno around a maker-first principle: protect the quality of the craft while giving the business a more resilient operational core.

Kerno’s growing ecosystem also includes Scan Simple, a standalone barcode-label platform acquired from its original developer, Nexus Box LLC. Scan Simple focuses on creating scannable labels for unpackaged or variable-quantity products. No live Kerno-to-Scan Simple integration is being announced as part of the Beta invitation, but the acquisition gives Kerno a foundation for exploring future finished-goods labeling capabilities.

There is no fixed end date for the Kerno Beta. Access remains free to Beta users while Kerno remains in Beta. Businesses interested in participating can submit their information through the Kerno Beta page and view the current product demonstration online.
