Centauri Health Solutions (“Centauri”), a Tempe, Arizona-based health information technology company, announced its acquisition of Benny the Benefits Navigator (Benny), an Iowa-based technology company whose platform streamlines the application process for public benefits, specializing in Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).
This acquisition enhances Centauri’s Member Connect disability eligibility solution with a purpose-built, AI-powered platform for processing new applications and supplementary forms for individuals who may be eligible for SSI/SSDI benefits. By replacing long, confusing static forms with an accessible conversational digital intake process, the platform is designed to improve application quality, reduce administrative burden, and streamline access to benefits.
“Benny’s mission is to ensure those eligible for government benefits get the support they need to receive them,” said Jeremy Shapiro, co-founder of Benny. “We are thrilled to continue that mission as part of Centauri. The combination of Benny’s navigation technology with Centauri’s deep experience and strong member advocacy creates opportunities to support many more people through the process.”
Mike McNelis, Centauri Co-founder and CEO, added, “Our mission at Centauri is to create impact through insight and advocacy. Benny extends our ability to achieve that mission by meeting individuals where they are to provide new ways for those individuals to work with our experienced team to get members and patients the right benefits. Centauri’s people-centered mix of technology with empathy creates long term value for our clients which improves the lives of their members.”
The acquisition was supported by Centauri’s lead investor, Abry Partners. Kirkland & Ellis was legal counsel to Centauri for the transaction.
