Chime® (Nasdaq: CHYM), America’s #1 choice for banking1, today opened its new office at 122 Fifth Avenue, establishing its East Coast hub in Manhattan’s Flatiron District and expanding its presence in Chime’s largest metropolitan market.
The 84,000-square-foot office spans three floors and brings together New York-based employees across product, engineering, enterprise, marketing, partnerships, and other teams. Designed to foster in-person collaboration, the workspace brings teams together at the center of finance and technology. It adds to Chime’s existing offices in San Francisco and Chicago.
“Growing up in New York, I saw firsthand the grit, hustle, and ambition that define this city. That same spirit drives Chime—our teams are resilient, move with urgency, and are determined to deliver better banking to mainstream consumers,” said Chris Britt, CEO and Co-founder of Chime. “As the leading consumer financial technology brand, it is only natural that Chime would have a flagship office in the financial capital of the world. New York is already our largest metropolitan market, and putting down deeper roots here brings us closer to hundreds of thousands of Chime members and the exceptional talent that will help us realize our ambition to bank America.”
Chime’s expansion in New York comes as the company enters its next phase of growth. Chime recently announced a definitive agreement to acquire Stride Bank, its bank partner of more than seven years. Subject to regulatory approval and close, Stride would become Chime’s bank subsidiary—bringing a national bank charter and proven banking infrastructure in-house and adding a foundational layer to Chime’s vertically integrated platform.
New York has played a key role in Chime’s growth. The company first established its presence in the city in 2023 and grew its footprint in 2024 when Chime acquired New York-based Salt Labs, now Chime Enterprise, which enables employers to bring Chime’s products to their employees. The new office will continue to help attract top talent and drive growth in the area.
Chime has also built deep connections across New York communities, partnering with leading organizations including Junior Achievement, the Council for Economic Education, Braven, Urban Pathways, and the Precious Dreams Foundation. The company also supports New York-based Chime Community Changemakers®, such as Marcy Lab School and Official Black Wall Street, and has nearly 50 Chime Scholars Foundation® students in New York. Together, these partnerships advance financial education, economic mobility, and opportunity for New Yorkers.
