Community Compass Launches National Search for Local Ambassadors

New initiative will tap local knowledge to help more people discover ways to serve and get involved in their communities

CINCINNATI, OH, UNITED STATES, September 16, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Community Compass, the first-ever platform leveraging crowdsourced local knowledge to help people discover opportunities to serve their communities, today announced the launch of its Community Ambassador Network. The national initiative will recruit local volunteers to help identify and share organizations, opportunities and other ways people can get involved in their communities, further strengthening the breadth and depth of the interactive directory.

According to recent research from Gallup and the Kettering Foundation, more than one-third of U.S. adults wanted to volunteer or participate in local community service in the past year but did not. Among would-be volunteers with ample free time, more than half (54%) said they were unsure how to get involved. In fact, not knowing how to get involved was the single largest factor distinguishing those who wanted to participate but did not from those who did. Information found in online searches for service opportunities is often outdated, incomplete, and lacking personalization, further complicating the pathway to finding ways to connect into one’s local community.

Community Compass is a first-of-its-kind platform that brings together nonprofits, volunteer opportunities and other ways to serve in a crowdsourced digital directory. Its AI-powered conversational guide, Scout, then uses that growing body of local knowledge to recommend relevant opportunities based on where people live, what they care about and how they want to contribute, making it easier to move from wanting to help to taking action.

Community Ambassadors will serve as local champions for Community Compass, contributing firsthand knowledge of their communities and helping identify nonprofits, grassroots organizations, mutual aid groups, service clubs, volunteer opportunities, community events and other ways to get involved. Ambassadors will also build relationships with local organizations and help expand awareness of the many ways residents can contribute in their communities.

The Ambassador Program is a key part of Community Compass’ crowdsourced approach to community discovery. Traditional listing platforms often rely on organizations to create and maintain their own profiles, making it much more difficult to discover smaller nonprofits with limited staff and resources and hyper-local grassroots efforts with little or no online presence. Community Ambassadors help close those gaps by contributing firsthand knowledge of the organizations, efforts and evolving needs within their communities, creating a more comprehensive and current picture of the many ways people can get involved.

Community Compass is currently recruiting Ambassadors in Long Beach, CA; Albuquerque, NM; Boulder, CO; Charlotte, NC; Little Rock, AR; Macon, GA; Minneapolis, MN; Philadelphia, PA; Reno, NV; Spokane, WA; Tallahassee, FL; and Providence, RI. Ambassadors will commit approximately four to six hours per month for one year and work directly with the Community Compass team to expand and strengthen information about their communities.
