Ape Law updates source-linked UAE Virtual Asset Licence Tracker

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – September 29, 2026 – Ape Law, the UAE legal consultancy co-founded by Victoria Wells and Stephan Roberto, has published an update to its public UAE VASP Licence Tracker. The firm checks regulator records weekly and publishes validated updates to help founders and compliance teams identify the legal entity, regulator and permitted activities behind UAE virtual-asset licence claims. Each tracker record links to its official source, and the site displays the date its data was collected.

At the time of this announcement, the tracker contained 116 authorisations for 115 distinct entities and 207 permission lines across five UAE regulatory regimes, based on public records collected September 27, 2026. Current counts and records appear on the live tracker.

A licence claim may refer to one legal entity in a wider group or to permission for particular activities. Visitors can search the tracker by company, activity or website, compare the published permission wording and open the regulator record to check the current position.

The tracker covers Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA); the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM); the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC); the UAE Capital Market Authority (CMA); and the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE). For founders comparing UAE crypto licensing routes, these are separate regimes with different permissions and conditions. The tracker preserves each source’s permission wording and adds research labels to help compare records. Those labels do not replace the legal terms of an authorisation.

The tracker also makes gaps in a public record visible. It marks an authorisation as active only where the regulator expressly states that status. If the source does not state a current status or publish a licence date, the tracker says so rather than filling in the missing information. Ape Law publishes the underlying public fields as a CSV and explains its collection and review process in its methodology notes.

Victoria Wells and Stephan Roberto co-founded Ape Law in the UAE. Wells, the firm’s principal, leads its legal work on virtual asset regulation, tokenization, licensing and business structures. The firm also released VASP Verify for Chrome and Firefox in August 2026. The browser extension compares the domain of a website a user is visiting with domain relationships reviewed for the tracker. A match points to a record and regulator source; it does not establish that the website is safe or that a business currently has every permission it may need. Likewise, no reviewed match does not establish that a business is unlicensed.
