DETROIT, MI, UNITED STATES, October 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — This December, PRISM Chorus invites you to experience Winter Wonderland, a festive choral celebration of the holiday season filled with exceptional music, warmth, joy, and the unmistakable sound of Michigan’s largest and one of its most prominent LGBTQ+ performing arts organization.
Presented for two performances on December 11 and 12, Winter Wonderland showcases the musical quality, energy, and artistry that have made PRISM one of the area’s most visible LGBTQ+ cultural organizations. The program features seasonal favorites and compelling choral selections in a concert designed to capture the beauty, excitement, reflection, and wonder of the winter season. The 2026 performances also mark an important milestone for PRISM Chorus as Winter Wonderland will be the organization’s first full concert presented in the heart of Downtown Detroit.
“While PRISM has performed previously at prominent Detroit metro-area venues including Orchestra Hall with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, SoundBoard at the MotorCity Casino, Macomb Center for the Performing Arts, and the Royal Oak Theater, this year’s Winter Wonderland brings the chorus into Detroit’s central downtown district for the first time,” said PRISM Board Member at Large, Paul Kesman. “The move to the heart of downtown Detroit reflects PRISM’s continuing artistic growth and reinforces its presence as a prominent part of the city’s diverse arts and cultural community.”
Winter Wonderland will be presented in the historic sanctuary of the Fort Street Presbyterian Church. Founded in 1849, Fort Street Presbyterian Church welcomes the LGBTQIA+ community into one of Detroit’s landmark historic buildings. Its Gothic Revival sanctuary is recognized for its soaring architecture, historic organ, and exceptional acoustics, providing a dramatic setting for a large choral performance. The church is recognized as both a National and Michigan State Historic Site and has been a prominent part of the Downtown Detroit skyline for generations.
PRISM Chorus is Michigan’s largest LGBTQ+ performing arts organization, bringing together more than 160 singers through musical excellence, inclusion, creativity, and community. PRISM’s performances celebrate the diversity of its members and audiences while demonstrating the ability of exceptional choral music to unite a diverse group of people. Through ambitious concert programming, community appearances, collaborations, and special events, PRISM continues to expand its artistic presence throughout metropolitan Detroit and Michigan. Winter Wonderland continues that tradition while beginning an exciting new chapter for PRISM in the center of Downtown Detroit.
